Meet the Team
Nick passionately believes in the benefits of making sustainable and active travel options more widely available. He’s worked in this area for over 20-years, with a specific interest in physical activity and health. He’s been responsible for some major sustainable travel initiatives including the Sustainable Travel Demonstration Town and Cycle Demonstration Town projects in Darlington. He also co-developed the Modeshift STARS accreditation scheme, which is now recognised nationally. As well as being a Partner at PWLC Projects, Nick is also the Business Director at Modeshift.
Lindsey has over 25 years’ experience specialising in the development of bespoke programmes and training that provide effective strategic direction and deliver real changes in travel behaviour. She’s an acknowledged expert in transport planning and community engagement, having operated across local, regional and national government programmes, was a member of the Modeshift management board for several years.
Lindsey’s passion is to support people to live healthier happier lives; this is reflected across the nature of the projects she coordinates for PWLC Projects and over the last 6 years has extended to supporting individuals’ wellbeing through craniosacral therapy and yoga.

Lee Parker
Senior Associate
Lee has almost 30 years -experienceyears’ experience as a transport planner working in both the public and private sector, in the UK and overseas. He is currently advising the Adu Dhabi government on electric and autonomous vehicles as well as wider sustainable transport policies following on from the COP28 event held in 2023. Outside of work Lee enjoys travel, football and spending time with his family and beloved Boxer dog, Nova.
Steven Wong
Senior Associate
Steve has an impressive background as Programme Manager in a wide variety of projects, in both the public and private sectors. Over the past 17 years he’s worked on a number of projects ranging from large transport/public realm and high street development schemes to smaller pocket parks and logistics projects.
Richard Lancaster
Senior Associate
Richard has over 20 years’ experience in transport planning, development planning, strategy development, town centre regeneration, public transport, heritage projects, parking and road safety. He is an experienced Project Manager used to delivering complex and extensive, multi-million-pound programmes.
Fiona Fisher Sustainable Communities Manager
Following a career in teaching at secondary level, Fiona decided to follow her passion for active travel and sustainability when a parent of a former pupil contacted her 6 years ago, offering the opportunity to work on active travel projects with schools. Since then Fiona has undertaken schools’ STARS engagement projects in the Midlands; supported Rutland Council to implement Modeshift STARS; Quality Assured Redbridge schools TfL accreditation applications; managed School Superzone projects, and Southwarks Cycling promotion programme, as well as leading on development of the West Midlands Schools Air Quality Toolkit.
Between the Partners and Associates, we have over 75 years combined experience of working both within and for local and regional government; creating, supporting and implementing innovative projects that make a difference to the places people live, work and play.
Vanessa Bunton
Associate Educator
Vanessa is a highly qualified and passionate educator with extensive teaching experience.
Vanessa integrates real-world scenarios, interactive workshops, and collaborative projects to make learning both relevant and impactful. She is committed to empowering students with the knowledge and skills to address global challenges like pollution and climate change. Through engaging lessons and hands-on activities, she fosters a sense of responsibility and encourages pupils to create locally achieve proactive solutions to environmental challenges.
Olivia Davis
Associate Teacher and Workshop Facilitator
With a background in fine art, and extensive experience in community art projects, Olivia
is uniquely placed to deliver our community and schools engagement projects. She works with TfL explorers and eco-warriors, amongst others, to support them to become behaviour change champions within their schools. Her stimulating delivery of our air quality and active travel workshops, road safety and pedestrian training, help the youngest generations understand key issues and lead on promotions to the wider school community.
Sarah Ballard
Associate Teacher and Workshop Facilitator
Sarah has 30 years experience of teaching students in a range of settings. She has a particular interest in supporting students with SEND, using a multisensory approach to learning to deliver engaging and impactful sessions. Sarah's work with PWLC Projects has focused on the delivery of road safety and pedestrian training skills. Sarah is committed to developing pupils' sense of self-confidence and responsibility as they develop their understanding of these important life skills. Sarah is passionate about students sharing their learning with their families to encourage further dissemination of the sessions within the wider school community.
Kate Orr
Associate Educator
Kate has many years experience of teaching, specializing in supporting students with ASD and associated needs, as well as those with physical and visual impairment, and diverse learning needs.
She also has vast experience in the Heritage education sector delivering community projects and events for WaterAid, Thames Water and Groundwork, as well as delivering workshops in schools and The British museum.
Kate is passionate about working with children and helping them to develop skills that will serve them throughout life.
Betty Anyika
STARS Engagement Officer
Betty has over 10 years of project management experience working on international green infrastructure projects as well as projects to widen participation in higher education for underrepresented groups. Her previous roles also include Events Manager, Sports Coaching Assistant and owner of a healthy food mobile catering business.
All Bettys previous experience and skills coalesce perfectly in this role - planning and delivering fun educational activities and sessions for pupils, that helps families and students travel in ways that supports wellbeing.
Georgina Simons
STARS Engagement Officer
George has over 15 years experience of partnership working within South Yorkshire’s Active Travel community, initiating and leading on many successful events and campaigns.
She is passionate about sustainability and channels her enthusiasm and creativity to support behaviour change within Sheffield school communities, ensuring more pupils and families build active travel into their daily lives.
Paula Edwards
STARS Engagement Officer
Paula is a keen cyclist, swimmer, walker and all round lover and advocate of the outdoors. Holding both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Sport and Community Development, her specific interests lie in identifying barriers to participation and exploring ways in which these can be overcome, in order to promote healthy lifestyles, improve self-esteem and wellbeing and contribute to tackling environmental issues. As well as being a British Cycling Level 1 Ride Leader, Paula has over 20-years experience working with children and young people in the education sector and as an outdoor pursuits/team building instructor.
Rosie Frazer
STARS Engagement Officer
Rosie has always loved cycling and walking. She’s a graduate in English and American Studies, and has held various roles in the media and charity sector in PR, Marketing and Events. For the past 8 years she’s managed to combine her love for active travel with 3 years in employer engagement for Love to Ride; and now almost 5 years at PWLC working on the Modeshift STARS programme in schools across South Yorkshire.
Zoe Roberts
STARS Engagement Officer
Zoe is a keen cyclist who’s passionate about enabling more people to travel actively. Having worked as Coordinator of the Sheffield Community Bike Project, and in policy, research and communications for UK100, a charity working to implement climate action, she has experience in community engagement, campaigning, volunteer management, project coordination and communications.
Zoe particularly enjoys supporting pupils, staff and parents to travel actively through running sessions ranging from learn to ride, cycle and scooter skills to street audits and assemblies.
